The word tepui means "house of the gods" in the native tongue of the Pemon, the indigenous people who inhabit the Gran Sabana (one of the major natural attractions in Venezuela).

Tepuis are a geological and ecological phenomenon, and a powerful metaphor for greening Dublin's skyline. Among the oldest geological formations on Earth, tepuis are isolated sandstone mesas in the Venezuelan rainforest.

They rise so high above the surrounding landscapes, and are so inaccessible, that they have evolved unique ecosystems atop each one. They are islands of biodiversity.

Talking about green roofs or "skygardens" atop tall buildings, the image of Tepui sprang to mind, and our team agreed it would be the perfect name for a new company we had been developing in our minds.
